There’s something profoundly special about service — the kind that’s selfless, courageous, and deeply rooted in community. At Clermont Periodontics and Implant Center, service isn’t just a core value — it’s the story behind who we are.
Founded by Dr. Kerwin Scott, a proud Veteran of the United States military and one of the only periodontists in Clermont, our practice was built with a mission: to deliver compassionate, top-tier periodontal care to everyone, especially those who have worn the uniform. Today, we are proud to announce an exciting step forward in that mission:
Clermont Perio now accepts Optum Serve insurance, giving Veterans in our community better access to the specialized care they deserve.
What Is Optum Serve?
If you’re a Veteran or care for one, you may already be familiar with the VA Community Care Network (CCN). The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs created it to ensure Veterans receive timely, high-quality health care — even outside of VA hospitals.
Optum Serve, part of UnitedHealth Group, is the third-party administrator that manages this network in our region (Region 2, which includes Florida). Through this partnership, community-based practices like ours can deliver approved care to Veterans closer to home, with less red tape and more heart.
Why This Matters to Us
This isn’t just an insurance update for Dr. Scott and our team. It’s personal.
As a Veteran-owned and family-run private practice, we’ve seen firsthand the challenges many Veterans face when trying to get specialty dental care. Traveling long distances, navigating VA red tape, and waiting weeks or even months for treatment — all of these hurdles can be overwhelming. That’s why joining the Optum Serve network was a no-brainer. It aligns with our values and opens our doors even wider to those who’ve served.
We’re here to be a local, trusted option — not just for routine checkups, but for advanced periodontal procedures that require expertise and precision.
What Veterans Can Expect at Clermont Perio
When Veterans walk through our doors, they’ll find more than just a dental chair. They’ll find a team that sees them, values them, and is trained to provide comprehensive, specialized care, including:

A Message from Dr. Scott
“When I served, I learned what it means to put others first. Today, as a periodontist, I carry that same mindset into every treatment plan. I want every Veteran to know: you’re not just a patient here. You’re family.”
