CLERMONT, FL – Dr. Scott returns to his alma mater as a faculty member, ready to inspire the next generation of dental leaders. This role is both an honor and a milestone. Meharry Medical College is where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree before completing his residency in periodontics at the University of Florida. Now, years later, he steps back onto campus not as a student, but as an educator committed to shaping the future of the profession he loves.
“I’ve been fortunate to build a career that blends clinical excellence with community service,” Dr. Scott shares. “ Joining the faculty at Meharry allows me to share what I’ve learned, mentor the next generation, and hopefully inspire them to serve with both skill and compassion.”
At Meharry, Dr. Scott will teach and mentor dental students with a focus on periodontics — including surgical techniques, dental implant placement, soft tissue grafting, and comprehensive treatment planning. His mission is to equip students with both advanced clinical skills and the ability to connect with patients in a meaningful way.
That same philosophy drives his work at Clermont Periodontics & Implant Center, where Dr. Scott remains dedicated to patient care and to mentoring aspiring dental professionals. Through shadowing opportunities, students gain direct access to a practicing periodontist and see firsthand how modern specialty care is delivered.
These shadowing experiences go far beyond watching procedures. Students observe how Dr. Scott reviews treatment plans with patients, learn how the practice’s business systems keep operations running smoothly, and see how social communication channels — like community events and educational outreach on social media — help build trust and long-term patient relationships.
Clermont Periodontics & Implant Center proudly partners with institutions such as the University of Central Florida, the University of Florida, and others to offer these opportunities. The goal is simple: help students bridge the gap between classroom learning and the realities of clinical practice and community engagement.
While his role at Meharry expands his reach in dental education, Dr. Scott continues to serve the Clermont community, collaborating closely with local dentists to deliver exceptional outcomes. His dual commitment — to patients and to students — ensures his impact will be felt for years to come.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Scott on this exciting achievement. And if you’re a student interested in shadowing, we’d love to hear from you.
